Travel ready: documents, packing and safety

An easy-to-follow checklist for a trip from Bangladesh, from checking entry conditions to staying connected abroad.

Travel ready: documents, packing and safety

Check entry and transit conditions

  • Check destination and transit-country requirements using official immigration or embassy information. Passport validity, visa eligibility and proof of funds depend on your nationality and itinerary.
  • Ensure names match your passport on every ticket. Check the permitted stay, number of entries and travel dates; a visa does not guarantee entry at the border.

Keep a useful document folder

  • Carry your passport, visa, tickets, accommodation confirmations, insurance and emergency contacts. Keep encrypted or otherwise secure digital backups and a separate paper copy.
  • Share your itinerary with a trusted family member. Keep your booking references private and avoid posting passport or boarding-pass photographs online.

Pack for your route

  • Read your airline's cabin and checked-baggage limits, liquid restrictions and battery rules. Keep power banks in the location the airline requires, usually cabin baggage; never pack a damaged battery.
  • Pack weather-appropriate clothing, walking shoes, a compatible adapter and a spare outfit in hand luggage. Put medicines in original packaging with prescriptions and check destination restrictions.

Money and communication

  • Ask your bank about foreign-use activation, fees and legal travel allowances. Carry more than one permitted payment option and keep emergency money separate.
  • Check roaming or local SIM/eSIM compatibility before buying. Download offline maps, save your hotel's address and protect accounts with device locks and secure connections.

Arrival and everyday safety

  • Confirm the official pickup point and use licensed transport. Check the vehicle and driver's details against your booking, and avoid sharing your location or hotel details with strangers.
  • Learn local emergency numbers and your insurer's assistance process. Keep valuables secure, respect local laws and customs, and seek professional help when ill rather than relying on travel tips for treatment.
